AMP Master Console

AMP v3.0 introduces the ability to monitor multiple servers with AMP software from

a single console, enabling administrators to efficiently monitor networks with

20,000+ wireless access points. Servers with the AMP software are polled every

90 seconds by the Master Console to obtain up-to-date performance and usage

data.

AirWave Management

Client™ Software

AMP v3.0 interoperates with the AirWave Management Client™ (AMC) client

software utility for Microsoft XP and Mobile XP devices. The AMC software

augments the Microsoft Zero Configuration Utility, and is completely passive and

very lightweight. It runs in the background on the client devices, collecting and

relaying statistical information to AMP. This statistical information provides data

that will enable future AMP releases to dynamically tune the WLAN to achieve

optimal RF performance.

Integration of the AirWave Management Client with AMP v3.0 enables:

• Wireless users to distinguish between Rogue, Approved, and Known (but

unmanaged) access points and to view all radio MACs within RF range.

• Wireless users to easily view the current usage load of all access points

within range, enabling them to avoid over-used APs.

• Enhanced rogue detection capability by utilizing client devices with AMC

software to scan and report unauthorized rogues.

Multiple AMP User Logins

AMP v3.0 now supports multiple user logins. Each user may be assigned a unique

username and password, and is granted either “management” (read-write) or

“monitoring” (read-only) access to AMP. AMP v3.0 provides administrative log files

by user to track changes. User accounts are created and deleted on the AMP

SetupÆUsers page.

Overlapping RF Channel

AMP v3.0 can generate an alert when AMP detects that neighboring wireless

access points are set to operate on the same RF channel.

Integration with RF-based

IDS Hardware Sensors

AMP v3.0 interoperates with RF scanning systems from AirMagnet and

WildPackets to leverage their dedicated RF scanners for rogue AP detection.

Integration between AMP and these system enables AMP to deliver lists of known,

managed access points to eliminate redundant data entry and avoid reporting

“false positives.”

Expanded Support for

RADIUS Accounting Clients

(Cisco 3030 VPN and Vernier)

AMP v3.0 interoperates with and receives RADIUS accounting records from the

Cisco 3030 VPN and Vernier server to enable AMP to display accurate username

information for end-users.

WPA Support

AMP v3.0 provides support for WPA security settings on the Cisco IOS, HP

ProCurve 420, and Colubris Networks wireless access points.
