Completing the Installation of a New System
InanewsystemofDFEmodules,oneoftheinstalledDFEmoduleswillbecomethe
managementmoduleonchassispowerup,andallDFEmoduleswillautomaticallybeset
tothefactorydefaultvalues.Acompletelistofthefactorydefaultvaluesareprovidedin
Chapter3oftheEnterasys
MatrixDFE‐PlatinumSeriesConfigurationGuide.
AfterinstallingallDFE modulesintothehostchassisandmakingtheconnectionstothe
network,proceedtothefollowingFirst‐TimeLog‐InUsingaConsolePortConnection
proceduretoaccessthemodulemanagementstartupscreenfromyourPC,terminal,or
modemconnection.
First-Time Log-In Using a Console Port Connection
StarttheCommandLineInterface(CLI)fromthemodule’slocalconsoleportasfollows:
1. Connectaterminaltothelocalconsoleportasdescribedin“ConnectingtoCOMPort
forLocalManagement”onpage 3‐20.Thestartup screen,Figure 3‐12,displays.
2. Attheloginprompt,enteroneofthefollowing
defaultusernames:
– roforRead‐Onlyaccess,
– rwforRead‐Writeaccess,or
– adminforSuperUseraccess.(ThisaccesslevelallowsRead‐Writeaccesstoall
modifiableparameters,includinguseraccounts.)
3. PressENTER.
4. ThePasswordpromptdisplays.LeavethisstringblankandpressENTER.The
moduleinformationandMatrix
promptdisplaysasshowninFigure 3‐12.
Notes: This procedure applies only to initial log-in, and to logging in to a device not yet
configured with administratively-supplied user and password settings.
By default, the Matrix DFE Series device is configured with three user login accounts: ro
for Read-Only access; rw for Read-Write access; and admin for super-user access to all
modifiable parameters. The default password is set to blank (press ENTER). For
information on changing these default passwords, refer to Chapter 3
in the Enterasys
Matrix DFE-Platinum Series Configuration Guide.
