Completing the Installation of a DFE Module in an Existing System
InanestablishedDFEmodulesystem,
•aDFEmoduleisalreadyestablishedasthemanagementmodule,
•thepasswordshavealreadybeensetforvarioususers,
•thesystemIPaddressisset,and
•othersystemparametershave beenset.
WhenyouinstallanewDFEmoduleintoasystemwithanexistingconfigureduser
account,thecurrentsystemsettingsinthataccountarealreadyrecognizedbythenew
DFEmoduleanditwilloperateaccordingly.
Ifyouneedtochangeanysettings,youcanconnectaterminaltothelocalconsoleportas
describedin“ConnectingtoCOMPortforLocalManagement”onpage 3
‐20toaccess
systemmanagement,oruseaTelnetconnectiontoaccesstheDFEmodulesystem
managementasdescribedinChapter3oftheEnterasysMatrixDFE‐PlatinumSeries
ConfigurationGuide.
Logging in with an Administratively-Configured User Account
Ifthedevice’sdefaultuseraccountsettingshavebeenchanged,proceedasfollows:
1. Attheloginprompt,enteryouradministratively‐assignedusernameandpress
ENTER.
2. AtthePasswordprompt,enteryourpasswordandpressENTER.
ThenoticeofauthorizationandtheMatrixpromptdisplaysasshownbackinFigure 3‐12.

DFE moduleisnowreadytobeconfigured.ForinformationaboutsettingtheIP
addressandconfiguringTelnetsettingsforremoteaccesstoDFEmanagement,referto

commandsenableyoutoinitiallysetupandperformmoreinvolved

configurations.

Note: Users with Read-Write (rw) and Read-Only access can use the set password
command to change their own passwords. Administrators with Super User (su) access
can use the set system login command to create and change user accounts, and the set
password command to change any local account password. For information on the set
password and set system login commands, refer to Chapter 3 in the Enterasys Matrix
