Completing the Installation of a DFE-Platinum Module in an
Existing System
InanestablishedDFEmodulesystem,
•aDFEmoduleisalreadyestablishedasthemanagementmodule,
•thepasswordshavealreadybeensetforvarioususers,
•thesystemIPaddressisset,and
•othersystemparametershavebeenset.
WhenyouinstallanewDFEmoduleintoasystemwithanexistingconfigureduser
account,the
currentsystemsettingsinthataccountarealreadyrecognizedbythenewDFEmoduleanditwill
operateaccordingly.
Ifyouneedtochangeanysettings,youcanconnectaterminaltothelocalconsoleportas

management,oruseaTelnetconnectiontoaccesstheDFEmodulesystemmanagementas

Logging in with an Administratively-Configured User Account
Ifthedevice’sdefaultuseraccountsettingshavebeenchanged,proceedasfollows:
1. Attheloginprompt,enteryouradministrativelyassignedusernameandpressEnter.
2. AtthePasswordprompt,enteryourpasswordandpressEnter.
ThenoticeofauthorizationandtheMatrixpromptdisplaysasshownbackinFigure 3 12.
TheDFEmoduleisnowreadytobeconfigured.ForinformationaboutsettingtheIPaddressand
configuringTelnetsettingsforremoteaccesstoDFEmanagement,refertoChapter3inthe
EnterasysMatrixDFEPlatinumSeriesConfigurationGuide.TheCLIcommandsenableyouto
initiallysetupandperform
moreinvolvedmanagementconfigurations.

Note: Users with Read-Write (rw) and Read-Only access can use the set password command to
change their own passwords. Administrators with Super User (su) access can use the set system
