Using LANVIEW
ThemodulesuseabuiltinvisualdiagnosticandstatusmonitoringsystemcalledLANVIEW.The
LANVIEWLEDs(Figure 41)allowquickobservationofthenetworkstatustoaidindiagnosing
networkproblems.
About the Management (MGMT) LED
TheMGMTLED(showninFigure 41)indicateswhenthemoduleisservingastheManagement
ModuletocontrolthemanagementfunctionsforallDFEmodulesinthechassis.TheManagement
ModulehandlesallIPrequeststothechassisIPaddress,suchasPING,Telnet,SNMP,andHTTP.
TheManagement
ModulealsohandlestheCLIconfigurationsessionsbymeansoftheconsole
port.So,whenyouplugintoaDFEmoduleCOMporttoconfigureamoduleinthechassis,itis
handledbytheManagementModuleregardlessoftheDFEmoduleCOMportthatyouuse.
Viewing the Receive and Transmit Activity
Onthe7G420272and7G428249,youcanviewthereceiveand transmitactivityontheRXandTX
LEDs.However,onlyonegroupofportsmaybeviewedatatime.Onthe7G428249,thereare8
portspergroup.Onthe7G420272,thereare20ports
pergroup.
Toviewthereceiveandtransmitactivityonagroupofattachedseg m ents,presstheGROUP
SELECTbutton(seeFigure 41)tosteptothegroupofinterest(Groups1‐3forthe7G420272,and
Groups1–5forthe7G428249).EachtimetheGROUPSELECTbutton
ispressed,theGROUPLED
lightsupinsequence,indicatingwhichgroupisselected.Thereceiveandtransmitactivityforthat
groupofsegmentsisthenindicatedbytheRXandTXLEDsforeachport.
